Can We Trust the Jews?
Obviously, the Jews, of Jesus' day, were a bad lot!  Some have posed the question, "Can
we trust the Jews?"  However, the question is, “Do we
need to trust the Jews?”

Romans 3.1-4, Paul said, "What advantage then has the Jew, or what is the profit of circumcision?
Much in every way!  Chiefly because to them were committed the oracles of God.  For what if some
did not believe?  Will their unbelief make the faithfulness of God without effect?  Certainly not!
Indeed, let God be true but every man a liar..."

The oracles of God were committed to the Jews.  The word committed is Strong's #4100
and by implication means
to entrust – but, what does it mean to entrust something to
someone?
According to the American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, it
means, 1)
To give over to another for care, protection, or performance.  2) To commit
something trustfully to;
place a trust upon.

In other words,
God has placed His trust in the Jews to care for, to protect, and to perform
the oracles of  God
– but, what are the oracles of God?  This word <oracles> is #3051 in
Strong's and means, an utterance (of God).  God placed His trust in the Jews to care for,
and protect His utterances.  If God has placed His trust in the Jews, who are we to
question the Jews, when it comes to the utterances of God, which He has, entrusted them
with, to care for, to protect, and to perform?

We know that the Jews have not always been faithful in this trust.  They are under a
curse because of this lack of faithfulness.  However, in all such instances, God has seen to
it that we have concrete proof to show where they have failed in this regard.  The Jews
have targeted Old Testament references about The Messiah, as shown by writers on that
specific subject.  The Septuagint is positive back up proof of this fact.  God has made
known in different ways the proof we need to prove all things concerning His Word.
Satan has worked through the Jews in this case to try to undermine the Word of God, just
as he did in the New Testament through some Catholic Monks in their addition in I John
5.7-8, and other places, to no avail.  God's curse is upon anyone who would add or take
away from His Word.  However, He will never leave us nor forsake us as to the true
understanding of His Word!  Concrete proof must be available for the true believer for
any biblical change.

Let us return to the subject of the Jews:  "What if some of them did not believe?  Will
their unbelief make the faithfulness of God without effect?"  The faithfulness of God is
what is at stake!  It does not matter how bad the Jews were, or are, God would see that
they would faithfully carry out His trust because <His faithfulness> is what is involved.
Moreover, in all fairness to the Jews, they have been faithful, in this regard, to a large
degree.  Only in the person of Jesus (Yahshua - Joshua) Christ (The Messiah) have they
been unfaithful.

We should not be under any disillusion that this trust is a dead trust.  It is not!  This trust
is a living trust!  God is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living!  We do not
need to look for answers in the Dead Sea scrolls; we do not need to look for answers in
the understanding of the Sadducees who have long ago died, and their ways died with
them.  If their ways were truth, why did not God preserve their ways in a
living trust?
God has left us a living trust to which we can turn for the utterances of God.

The Jews of today keep the Old Testament portion of the Bible, and the Sacred
Calendar.  They also keep the oral traditions in which we can learn things that the bible
does not always spell out.  God’s people have used some of these things, as we saw
earlier.  No wonder that Christ said,

Matthew 23.2, "...The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat.  Therefore whatever they tell you
to observe, that observe and do, but do not do according to their works; for they say, and do not do."

Christ knew that His faithfulness bound the Pharisees to disseminate the truth even
though He did not bind them to live by the truth, for then He would have taken away their
free moral agency.  As Psalms 114:2 declares,
"Judah became His sanctuary, and Israel
His dominion."  Just as God maintains David's throne, in the British Monarchy, until
Christ returns, so He maintains His utterances in the Rabbinical Jews of today!  A living
trust – surely of no less importance than a throne – both are miraculous!

Some say that we are trying to force the trappings of Judaism on the early Christians.
That is just not so!  The Passover is not "trappings of Judaism".  It is obvious that some
have convinced themselves that the Jews either lost the correct time to observe Passover,
or changed it for some reason which they have forgotten and which history nor the bible
records!  If one believes that theory, he should prove who, where, when, why, and how
this change took place.  There should be ample biblical evidence proving such theory.  The
truth is that the presumption that the Jews kept Passover one day later than the original
Passover is based on subjective reasoning.  The belief is pure supposition based on the
opinion that, “what we believe is true, therefore, this must be what happened”.  In other
words, it is unproved assumption that has no basis in fact.

Romans 10:17 So then faith [cometh] by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

We cannot believe, based on an assumption, that the Jews were keeping Passover a day
late.  Christ was slain as the Passover lamb at the very time the Jews began to slay the
lambs of the temple.  The time of Christ’s crucifixion speaks loudly that the Jews’ date
for Passover was accurate.

Where is the biblical information that will tell us that by Christ's time the Jews were a
day off?  On cannot just assume that the Jews were wrong, when all the evidence points
to the Jews being right for the Passover date.
